Brief About the Library

The importance of the college library to teaching, learning and research activities cannot be overemphasized.  The FCE (T) Gusau College Library was established in 1989 when the institution was founded at its temporary site located at Government Teachers College Gusau in old Sokoto State, now ZACAS.  After the creation of Zamfara State in 1996 the library was relocated to another building along with the Clinic at the College permanent site.  The present Library complex became operational in November, 1997.

The goals and objectives of the College Library is to support FCE (T) Gusau in performing its functions of teaching, learning, research and other community services.  In the pursuance of this the librarycarry out the following:-

·         Selection, acquisition and maintenance of library resources such as printed books, Journals, reference materials, newspaper, research reports, e-books, e-journals, multimedia and other internet resources.

·         giveassistance to library users on how to use the resources effectively.

·         provision of facilities and ICT infrastructure for better library service delivery.

·         active participation in academic activities such as teaching, 

research, and information services like books indexing, reviewing, editing/proofreading, and managing of publication works

·         Promote the use of the library resources through user education, advocacy/ lobbying, public relation and publicity.


The college Library has the following sections/units:

·         Administration

·         Technical services sections for collection development and processing/cataloguing

·         Circulation section for books borrowing

·         Serials management for access to Journals and other periodicals 

·         Reference and information service

·         Reserve Unit

·         E-Library section for access to internet and ICT- enabled resources/services

·         Multimedia centre for audio, video, VCD and DVD utilization for study teaching and learning by individual or small groups

·         Departmental Libraries located at various Schools

·         Bindery Unit

·         Library Canteen

Opening Hours

The Library is opened from 8:00 am – 9:00pm on Mondays to Fridays, and 9:00 am – 4:00pm on Saturdays.  The Library remains closed on Sundays and public holidays.
